Now that you know how to dive the fun can really begin!

The PADI Advanced Open Water Course takes a minimum of only two days to complete, consisting of five Adventure Dives.

Use PADI’s flexible Adventures in Diving program to delve for the first time into intriguing new diving activities. The program is made up of single Adventure Dives, each covering something different, which you can take alone or take several to get a certification (three for “Adventure Diver” and five for “Advanced Open Water.”)

During these dives you will explore more specialized forms of diving and develop your skills. Classroom lesson time and studying is minimal so you can spend more time diving.

Choose from a variety of dives including the most popular:

  • Deep (required for AOW)
  • Navigation (required for AOW)
  • Peak Performance Buoyancy
  • UW Naturalist
  • Digital Photography
  • Night
  • AWARE shark
  • Wreck

If it has been a while since your last dive, we include a basic refresher for free at the start of your first dive.

Find out more about these options by reading more on the corresponding PADI Specialty Courses.

Course Overview

There are three parts to the Open Water Diver Course:

Knowledge Development

This involves self-study and some classroom work. You will work through the PADI manual and video and then we will revise what you have learnt during classroom sessions (usually in our beach “classroom”!). Find out how you can do this in advance with PADI’s e-learning program for use on computers and mobile devices.

Open Water Dives

Complete five adventure dives and become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver!

We will do Deep and Navigation dives, and you can choose another three exciting Adventure Dives; we highly recommend Buoyancy especially if you have not done many dives, as well as Night. You can find a full overview by viewing the corresponding specialty course.

Typically you will complete these dives over two or three days, but take as long as you like. Usually at least two of your dives are at Kimud Shoal, home to our famous thresher sharks!

Prerequisites

You need to be a PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalant) and in a normal good health. You can check out the PADI Dive Medical Form.

Your last dive should not be more than six months ago. If this is the case, we will evaluate you, and either include a basic refresher at the start of your first dive, or arrange a 1/2 day full Refresher Course to familiarize yourself again with the equipment, a theory recap and confined water skills. Your confidence will be back in no time and you will have much more fun and no stress!

Anyone can learn to dive as long as you are in reasonable physical condition. Please check the medical form and consult a physician if necessary. You can also contact us with your questions and we encourage you to do so!

Swimming ability: There is a swim test of 200m, any style, no time limit. For those who are not strong swimmers, you may instead do a 300m snorkel swim with mask, snorkel and fins. You will also need to do a surface float of 10 minutes with no aids.

The minimum age to start diving is 10 years old: 10-14 year old divers earn a ‘Junior’ Open Water Diver certification which automatically upgrade on turning 15.

Your Instructors

Our PADI diving instructors have been though a rigorous training program and each has many years of teaching experience with hundreds of students.

We take great pride in teaching students of any level. Diving lessons are almost always one-on-one, and there will usually be an assistant as well. So you will get individual attention and diving instruction will go at your own pace.

You can be assured that with us, you will have only the best: top quality service, unrivalled professionalism and a safe and most of all fun diving vacation from start to finish!
