Course Overview
What to expect on the dive:
Pre-Dive Briefing
Your dive guide briefs the group on conditions, the cleaning station layout, shark behaviour, and the etiquette required to observe threshers responsibly without disturbing them.
The Descent
You’ll descend alongside the shoal wall to the cleaning station depth. Buoyancy control is important at this depth — your guide will keep the group together and at a safe distance from the sharks.
The Encounter
Thresher sharks visit Monad Shoal’s cleaning station in the early morning, often in groups. You’ll observe them being cleaned by wrasse at depth, hovering near the wall. Sightings are not guaranteed but are frequent.
Equipment
Full scuba equipment is provided. A wetsuit of at least 3mm is recommended for deeper dives at Monad Shoal. A torch is useful but not required.
Nitrox is available for certified EAN divers and extends bottom time at this depth. Ask about Nitrox when booking.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) required for dives below 18m. Minimum age is 15. A recent dive history is recommended — this is not a dive for those who haven’t been in the water for a long time.
