Advance Your Technical Diving with PADI TEC 45 on Malapascua Island
PADI TEC 45 builds on TEC 40 and takes you deeper — to 45m — with more complex decompression procedures and the introduction of a second decompression gas. At this level, gas planning, team diving, and emergency management become significantly more demanding.

Learn to dive in paradise
Course Overview
TEC 45 follows directly from TEC 40 and extends your technical diving capability to 45m with two-gas decompression procedures.
- Duration: 3–4 days
- 4 open water TEC dives to 45m
- PADI TEC 45 certification
- Two-gas decompression procedures
Course Overview
The course covers three main areas:
Knowledge Development
Advanced decompression theory, two-gas planning using both bottom gas and a deco gas, extended dive table calculations, team communication, and managing more complex emergency scenarios at depth.
Skills Review
A review of TEC 40 skills at the start of the course before progressing to more demanding procedures — gas switches at depth, precise deco stop management, and extended run-time dive planning.
Open Water TEC Dives
Four dives to a maximum of 45m with multi-stop decompression. You’ll execute real multi-gas plans at Malapascua’s deep sites under close instructor supervision and progressively increasing independence.
Study Materials
The course uses the PADI TEC Deep Diver manual (same as TEC 40, with TEC 45-specific worksheets). All materials are included in the course price.
Arriving with your TEC 40 gas planning skills fresh will significantly speed up the TEC 45 classroom sessions.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites
PADI TEC 40 certification (or equivalent) required. Minimum age is 18. Minimum 50 logged dives with at least 10 dives below 30m using stage or deco procedures. Current within 6 months recommended.
Your Instructors
Our technical instructors take TEC training seriously. Expect thorough briefings, detailed gas planning review, and honest feedback after each dive — this is not recreational instruction.

Progress to TEC 50
TEC 45 is the penultimate step in the PADI TEC progression. TEC 50 follows, taking you to 50m with trimix options and the most complex decompression procedures in the PADI technical range.
Many students complete TEC 45 and TEC 50 consecutively during an extended stay.
Combine Courses
TEC 45 pairs naturally with TEC 50 for back-to-back completion on Malapascua. It also combines with the TEC Sidemount Specialty for divers who want to develop deep sidemount capability alongside depth progression.
