Each specialty is a standalone PADI certification. This package covers all three across two to three days on the water.

Underwater Naturalist

  • Learn to identify and understand marine life behaviour
  • Covers responsible marine interaction

Peak Performance Buoyancy

  • Fine-tune your weighting and buoyancy control
  • Reduce air consumption and improve trim

Boat Diver

  • Entry and exit techniques, live-aboard and day-boat procedures
  • Essential for diving in the Philippines

Course Overview

Each specialty includes:

Knowledge Development

Naturalist: marine biology, species identification, ecosystem interactions, and ethical wildlife behaviour. PPB: weighting, breathing technique, and how to achieve effortless neutral buoyancy. Boat: dive boat layouts, dive flag rules, entries (giant stride, back roll), and safety procedures.

In-Water Practice

PPB includes a focused pool or shallow-water session working on hovering, trim, and air consumption. Boat and Naturalist skills are practised in open water from our dive boat.

Specialty Dives

Combined dives at Malapascua’s local reef sites — your guide will incorporate elements of all three specialties into each dive where possible, making efficient use of your time in the water.

Study Materials

Each specialty uses its own PADI manual. All three are included in the course package price.

Online or self-study options are available for all three. Completing them before you arrive will leave more time for diving.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites

PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) required for all three specialties. Minimum age is 10. No prior specialties needed.

Your Instructors

PPB is particularly recommended for newer divers or anyone who has struggled with buoyancy — it’s one of the most immediately useful skills you can develop underwater.

PADI Master Scuba Diver

Each specialty counts toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating. Earn five PADI specialties alongside Rescue Diver and 50 logged dives to reach the highest recreational diver level.

Ask about which other specialties we offer that count toward Master Scuba Diver status.

Combine Courses

This three-specialty package pairs well with any other PADI course. Add it to an Advanced Open Water or Rescue Diver package for a comprehensive skill-building trip to Malapascua.
