PADI Discover TEC is an introductory experience that lets you try technical diving before committing to a full TEC course. Under direct instructor supervision, you’ll practise with technical equipment and experience decompression diving in a safe, controlled environment. It’s the TEC equivalent of Discover Scuba Diving.

Course Overview
The Discover TEC experience has three parts:
Theory Introduction
A briefing covering the basics of technical diving: what decompression means, how TEC equipment differs from recreational gear, gas planning at an introductory level, and what to expect during the dive.
Pool Skills Session
Practice wearing and handling technical equipment in shallow water. You’ll work on buoyancy, trim, and basic TEC procedures — valve drills, regulator management — before moving to open water.
Supervised TEC Dive
A single open water TEC dive with planned decompression stops, conducted under close instructor supervision. You’ll experience what a real TEC dive feels like — extended dive time, depth, deco management — before deciding whether to pursue a full TEC course.
Equipment
All technical diving equipment is provided for the experience, including twin cylinders (or a stage bottle), TEC BCD, and deco gas.
You do not need any technical diving equipment of your own to participate in Discover TEC.

Prerequisites
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) required. PADI Rescue Diver and EANx certification strongly recommended. Minimum age is 18. Minimum 25 logged dives required.

Discover TEC is run by certified PADI TEC instructors. Groups are kept very small to ensure close supervision and a genuine introduction to technical diving rather than a supervised fun dive.
Ready to Go Further?
Discover TEC leads naturally into the PADI TEC 40 course — the formal entry point into technical diver training. If you enjoy the experience, ask your instructor about progressing to TEC 40 during your stay.
Your Discover TEC experience does not count as credit toward TEC 40 but gives you a significant head start on the practical skills.
Combine Courses
Discover TEC is the ideal precursor to the full TEC programme. Many students do it on day one of an extended stay and then move directly into TEC 40 with confidence. Ask about multi-day TEC packages.
